A Lasting Impact – Annie attended the Tuesday/Thursday preschool class as a 3 year old in 2003. Fast forward to 2018. Annie is now a high school senior at Niles Community Schools and volunteering at the Learning Tree Preschool in the very Tuesday/Thursday class she attended so many years ago.
Annie’s preschool experience had such a tremendous impact on her 15 years earlier that she wanted to be create, share and provide that same experience for other 3 year olds. She volunteered from January to May assisting Miss Kim and Miss Kelley with preparing materials for class then participating with the students as they gained fine/gross motor, personal-social and problem solving skills through open play, crafts, story time, table work, and snack time.
At the end of the year, Annie brought her memory books to class to share her preschool memories with her students. They giggled to see Annie as a 3 year old, like them, participating in all the same activities they had. Annie’s excitement in sharing her memories had now created a new memory for her students. We are proud to share that Miss Kim has kept her tradition of making memory books for each preschool student all these years later. These photos, stories, artwork and memories are priceless treasures to her students.
